Aurora Technologies created an electronic
purse system for universities and campus
sites for the use of the students and
faculty members. The project was
developed by a consortium of companies,
including Comtec (Israel), Racom (Israel)
- a smart cards supplier, Schlumberger (France)
- manufacturer of smart cards and POS
terminals and Techno Ralco (Israel) - the
supplier of copier machines. The
project was funded by Bezeq (the Israeli
Telecom company), the Israel Credit Cards
company (ICC Visa) and one of the biggest
banks in Israel - Leumi Bank. Aurora Technologies
defined the card data structure and its
security. We also built the smart card
controllers for the copier machines and
for other vending machines in the campus
site. We designed and wrote the POS (Point-of-sale)
software. This package included card
initialization, card crediting and
debiting. We also wrote the communication
software that downloads the daily
transactions from the POS terminal and
from the smart card controllers to a
central processing PC.
Kesefcard
e-purse is one of the largest smart card
projects in Israel, and one of the
successful e-purse schemes in Israel.
